DIY

So, I have mentioned before that I LOVE Annie Sloan Paint.
Well, I love it even more now.
I was in need of my own dresser. Ben and I have been sharing one for 19 years.
Funny, how this idea just randomly came to me one day.
So, off hunting garage sales I went.
I found a beautiful dark brown Thomasville dresser for...$10.00 dollars!
I was grinning from ear to ear as I drove away with it.

The next day the weather cooperated and I painted it Antique White.
I wasn't sure I wanted to reuse the old hardware (because I just might).

But, as my shopping Karma would have it I found these beautiful
bubble glass handles and rhinestone knobs at Anthropologie. Yes, They came home with me.
I couldn't be happier. Now, pulling out a pair of socks or putting away underwear
is a truly happy event. It's the little things people.  What project have you been up to?
Please dish.

Top Ten Thurs.

Favorite Social Event:
Hanging with Friends in Denver. It was such a fun trip. I love all the laughing and staying up late.

Favorite Book:
I just finished this book. I give it Five Stars ***** You must read it.
Favorite Restaurant:
NoRTH in Overland Park, KS. They have these warm, salted, thin zuchini chips. I love them.
I am also a fan of their Calamari with Arugula and lemon zest. I think I may have to go there again soon.

Favorite Theatrical Event:
A Mystery Theatre. We went to one in Denver. It was so much fun. I was laughing the whole time.
The acting was very good even though it was a small local production.  We sat up front and were involved in the plot all night.  We were referred to as the "House wives of Highlands Ranch", "Puma Girls of Denver". I would recommend finding one. I think I will recommend it for our next office holiday party.

 Favorite Personal Experience:
I had my palm read. A first for me. I was touched by the talent of someone who can do this well.
The first thing he said to me after looking at my palm. "You like to learn things in life the hard way.  You think you must experience things for yourself". I was hooked.

Favorite Occupation:
Mothering my children. They have been making halloween decorations and counting down on the calendar until "Candy Night". They have made a huge leaf pile in the yard. They have made a very creative and red neck swing from one of our trees. I think a saw a stuffy lady in a BMW almost wreck her car as she starred it down while driving through our neighborhood. I waived and chuckled to myself. Once again proof that we need to move out to the country!
Favorite Store:
Barnes & Noble. I could spent hours there. Anna and I had our special date and that's where we both wanted to hang out after our trip to Justice and Blue Chip Cookie. She is so much fun. I dared her to do cartwheels into the cookie store, she did it and was applauded by all the customers inside.

Favorite Fashion Accessories:
Scarfs, hands down. I think I will wear one everyday next week. Wait, they don't go with yoga pants very well. I guess I will have to "get dressed" everyday. That's a real challenge.
Favorite Humor:
This cartoon from the Chicago Tribune last week. Enough said. Last night was much more aggressive.

Favorite Upcoming Event:
Having Tickets to Les Miserables here in Kansas City. Ben has a birthday in November. This is how we are celebrating. I'm sure he will choose BBQ for dinner or a big ol'burger somewhere.  I never tire of this production or story.

Have a great Thursday and weekend Friends. Thanks for coming by. Cheers! Until next time.

Top Ten Thurs. Film Festival Style

The Kansas City
International Film Festival
was great fun.
Popcorn for six nights in a row...Not
good on the waist line.

These are the
Top Ten Movies I recommend.

  1. Remembrance. A true love story set in World War II. My favorite for emotion.
  2. A Band of Rogues.  The Film makers were in the Audience. How cool to have a Q&A.Great music and Photography.
  3. The Eyes of Thailand. Documentary. Love the Content. Anything with elephants is good.
  4. The Fourth World. Also a Documentary about poverty.  We took all of our children to this one.  They were blown away. It was an intro to slums. They talk about it everyday.
  5. Kinderblock 66.  Documentary. Another touching film on the will to survive. Moving to say the least.
  6. The Heist.  Documentary. More talk about the state of our country financially. Educational.
  7. Anna Karenina. Coming November 16th. I can't wait to see this movie.
  8. Upstairs Downstairs Season 2. Loving it. So my style of film.
  9. The Women in White. Book Club is reading it, I'm going to watch it. Not half as fun. But, I only have so much time in one day.
  10. iMovie on my Mac. My kids leave such silly stuff. It is so funny to watch. I don't think they know I love to stack their movies. Our Secret.

Top Ten Thurs.

Thursdays To Do List:

Take our family Photo for Christmas Cards. Joy.
(this is a  complicated task and full of bribery)

Schedule an appointment to have the front bumper
on my SUV  repaired.
(While on location for a photo shoot last weekend. A boulder came out
of no where and hit my bumper....no, I really hit it hard. No fault to the boulder.)

Schedule a window replacement.
( The boys hit another window with a football! AGAIN! We need to move
to the country.)

Schedule a Garage Door Repairman.
( I'm sure  our 8 month old Lab saw my distraction this week,
and decided to chew the sensor wires off. Nice. Now, the garage
won't close by itself.)

Send a 65.00 Check to Leawood PTO.
( I have never encountered so many fees for
extra cirriculars in all my life.  Tee shirts, mugs, snacks, toys, field trips)
Public School is NOT free in Overland Park, Kansas.

Go out on a mommy date with Anna.
(We made the arrangement months ago. She has finished
reading the Ivy & Bean Series and now would like a
date to Justice and Blue Chip Cookie.)
I will need a cookie after the bill for the above repairs!

Buy 6 8x10  print mattes.
(Time to change the photos in the Living room.
They have grown so much.)

Rotate My Tires.
(I'm going  on a cross country road trip by myself to
Denver. I can't wait. I already have my snacks and books on CD.
Here I come Interstate 70.)

Buy a new Click Free    Automatic  Back up
from Amazon. ( The dog also chewed up those wires.) Puppies are so fun.

Burn a New Playlist  to a CD.
(also for my trip to Denver.  I would love any new suggestions from all of you.
One exception, no country. Thank you.

Happy Thursday Everyone.
